Four North Fork High School graduates – two young ladies and two young men – are selected every year as finalists for the long-standing Paonia Cherry Days king and queen tradition. The winners of each title  receive a $1,000 scholarship from Paonia Cherry Days. The runners-up each receive $500. The king and queen are crowned on the Gazebo Stage in Paonia Town Park following the parade and opening ceremonies.
