Payson Pene
2025 Cherry Days King Candidate
Payson is the son of Patrick and Phyllis Pene.
In addition to Payson being an outstanding athlete, hIs AP English instructor, Kris Allen, says he is a leader who has consistently demonstrated remarkable dedication and resilience, both on and off the field and in the classroom.
Actively involved in business education and competition, Payson was a three-time state qualifier for the Future Business Leaders of America and was acknowledged for academic achievement, leadership, and contributions to the school community.
Payson was awarded varsity letters in baseball, basketball, wrestling, and football as a crucial member of several all-conference teams. He was also the ChSAA Regional Champion in wrestling. He also volunteered his time coaching and refereeing PeeWee sports leagues, fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill development among young athletes.
Payson plans to further his education in mechanical engineering and feels it is his duty to honor his peers, his teachers, and his community by making a meaningful impact on the world. With a desire to be a role model for younger students, he hopes he has set an example that hard work, perseverance, and community pride are worth striving for.
