2026 Cherry Days Queen Candidate

Sky Rikes, daughter of Christi Gubser and Jeff Rikes, is a 2026 graduate of North Fork High School whose passion for animals, service, and leadership has shaped both her high school experience and future goals. This fall, she plans to attend the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where she will major in biology in preparation for veterinary school and a career as a large animal veterinarian.

Animals have always been central to Sky’s life. Having moved to the Western Slope at the age of three, she developed a deep connection with horses and the agricultural lifestyle. Whether riding, training, or caring for her horses, she finds purpose, joy, and a sense of peace. She hopes to combine that lifelong passion with a career dedicated to the health and well-being of animals.

Throughout high school, Sky demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership and community involvement. She served as co-president of Soul Miners, vice president of North Fork Miner Mentors, student council class representative, and a member of National Honor Society. She also attended the FBLA State Conference for two consecutive years and participated in a month-long conservation project in Maine helping rebuild a section of the Appalachian Trail. Through volunteer work, food and coat drives, and support of local agricultural organizations, Sky has made a lasting impact on her school and community.
